Being my first and (so far) only mini project at 43 I’m quite late into the game of building. But this did not deter me and I bought the shell from one of the Errrmm mini club members Sean Ashford. With this in mind I took a lot of inspiration from the guys in the club ( Jeffery Surrey, Oliver Taylor, Paul Raynes, Sean Ashford, James Poole, Norman Jay, Gavin Fox, Norman Bilby and Pam and Andy, all who have had extensive mini ownership and mini that have graced the covers of this magazine.
So as mentioned I bought mini from Sean Ashford who had it in storage and was in ok condition and from there I had a clear and concise idea in my mind taking ideas from swiftune and retro racer minis I had seen on the event scene. Now people say that I’m trying to make it look like a MK 1 but this mini is all my favourite aspects rolled into MY perfect mini with the emphasis on retro, and hopefully that comes through.
With the help of Jeffery Surrey ( The Stoke Mini Centre) we went all out with from the ground up build. Now me being no body expert I left the build in the hands of a professional ( Jeffery Surrey) and the shell was shot blasted and every panel that needed replacing was, and a mk1 front and rear end put in place. Paint was applied by L&L Bodywork of Stoke.
